Primitive Beer LLC

We passionately brew a single type of beer, spontaneous and barrel-fermented following a strict set of rules known as Méthode Traditionnelle. After a marathon boil our beers spend one evening in our koelschip, a shallow open vessel, to chill and inoculate, much like capturing a sourdough culture. Following a 12-18 hour rest (we should all be so lucky), our cooled beer is transferred to oak barrels for fermentation and multiple-year maturation. Our favorite barrels may be blended, refermented with fruit and spices, further conditioned in finishing barrels, or packaged as-is for consumption. Primitive takes pride in supporting Colorado growers by sourcing all our grain, hops, and fruits/herbs locally. We are honored to learn and grow with the farmers around us and believe this process empowers the community and strengthens our connection to the land. Our beer is unique to the environment in which it is created!
